Meet the Team

Director, Founder and Psychologist of the Centre

Dr. María Sancho

She founded the center in 2017 with a clear mission: to support children, adults, and families through an integrative approach that combines clinical sensitivity with scientific rigor. Specialized in developmental psychology, trauma, and attachment, she is an EMDR psychotherapist and an expert in family systemic therapy and child and adolescent psychology.

With an international clinical background spanning Spain, the USA, and South America, Maria works from a model that integrates advances in developmental neuroscience with psychotherapy, addressing symptoms from their evolutionary roots. Her doctoral thesis, defended at the Faculty of Medicine (University of Cádiz) with cum lauden honours, laid the foundation for her specialization by investigating how early caregiving experiences shape brain development.

In recognition of her research excellence, Maria has been awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Fellowship by the European Commission. Starting in 2026, she will lead the international project REATTACH, a cutting-edge study in collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam and the University of Cambridge, focusing on the neurocognitive mechanisms that link attachment to adolescent mental health.

Currently, Maria combines her research career with the clinical direction and supervision of the team at MS Centro de Psicología, ensuring that the center’s therapeutic work remains at the forefront of international evidence-based practice.
